01About

Engineer first, architect by habit.

Portrait of Dineth Jayanga
Colombo, Sri Lanka

I started in Java and Spring Boot at RapidM3, building education and church-management platforms for clients, then moved to .NET microservices on Azure at Expernetic, where I now lead system design and delivery.

I like the part of the job where requirements are vague and the architecture is still open: turning them into a design that a team can build, test and operate without it falling apart six months later.

I finished my BEng in Software Engineering with First Class Honours alongside my engineering work, and I want to keep moving toward larger distributed systems, stronger platform engineering and technical leadership. Right now I am also exploring machine learning, AI engineering and prompt engineering.

  • 01

    Design before code

Logical system design, clear boundaries between services and well-shaped databases come first. They decide how expensive every later change is.

  • 02

    Automate the path to production

Repeatable CI/CD and YAML-defined deployments make releases routine instead of events.

  • 03

    Lead through clarity

I manage a development team at Expernetic and have handled client relationships, translating complex requirements into work a team can deliver on time.

Enterprise microservices platform

A high-scale, cloud-native platform delivered as .NET microservices on Azure, with a Next.js frontend. It is multi-tenant, bills through Stripe subscriptions, and ships through automated pipelines.

Client system, so this describes how it is built and what I owned, not its data, customers or internals.

Simplified. Delivery pipeline shown underneath.

What it had to handle

  • Many tenants, one platformMulti-tenant architecture with role-based access control, so each tenant gets its own permissions on shared infrastructure.
  • Identity across servicesAuthentication and authorization built on Auth0 and Keycloak, applied consistently across the microservices.
  • Money flowsStripe payment integration and subscription billing workflows.
  • Shipping safely and oftenContainerised deployments on Azure with Docker, Kubernetes and Helm, driven by GitHub Actions pipelines, with testing and release management around them.

Engineering decisions

  • Clean ArchitectureDependencies point inward: the domain stays independent of frameworks and infrastructure, which keeps business rules testable and replaceable parts replaceable.
  • CQRS with MediatRCommands and queries are separate requests with explicit handlers, so write and read paths can be reasoned about, tested and evolved on their own.
  • Dapper over SQL Server, with stored proceduresExplicit SQL and stored procedures for data access, so query behaviour is visible and tunable rather than hidden behind an ORM.
